Check your GP online in Bulgaria

Who your GP (личен лекар) is, where the practice is and which number to call — the check is free and takes under a minute. It runs on the official NHIF (НЗОК) lookup with just your EGN or LNCh. Here is how.

Lumeda is not part of the NHIF and never collects your EGN. The lookup happens entirely on the official NHIF website.

Below is the official NHIF lookup, embedded directly on this page. Official lookup: services.nhif.bg ↗

How to check your GP — step by step

  1. 01

    Open the NHIF lookup

Go to "Проверка на личен лекар" on services.nhif.bg. The address bar must end in nhif.bg — that is the only official source.

  2. 02

    Pick your identifier

Usually your EGN. Foreign residents use their LNCh; for a child, enter the child’s EGN.

  3. 03

    Enter the number and code

Type the number without spaces and copy the security code from the image. If it is unreadable, load a new one.

  4. 04

    Press "Търси" (Search)

The result appears on screen right away — no registration and no e-signature needed.

What the lookup shows

If you have a registered GP with an NHIF contract, you will see:

  • Your GP’s name
  • The practice address
  • A contact phone number
  • Whether your registration with them is active

No result? Here is what it means

You have no registered GP
If you never registered, or your registration was terminated, the lookup comes back empty. A first-time choice can be made at any time.
Your GP’s NHIF contract has ended
In that case you can choose a new GP immediately, without waiting for June or December.
A typo
Double-check the EGN or LNCh digits and the security code, then try again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check who my GP is?

On the NHIF "Проверка на личен лекар" lookup, enter your EGN or LNCh and the security code. The result shows your GP’s name, practice address and phone number.

Is the check free?

Yes. The NHIF lookup is free and needs no registration or e-signature.

Can I check my child’s GP?

Yes — enter the child’s EGN. Children have their own registered GP, which may differ from their parents’.

When can I change my GP?

Twice a year — 1 to 30 June and 1 to 31 December. Outside those windows you can change if you move to another town or change your registered address, or if your GP closes the practice or ends their NHIF contract.

How do I change my GP?

In person — fill in a permanent-choice registration form at the new GP’s practice. Or online — with an e-signature, through your personal electronic health record on the NHIF website, under "Избор на личен лекар".

Can I book an appointment with my GP online?

If their practice uses Lumeda — yes. You pick a free slot from the doctor’s schedule and get a confirmation and a reminder, with no phone calls and no queue. If it doesn’t — ask your GP about Lumeda.bg.
